The Bruksleden is a classic Swedish trail system that winds through moss-covered forests, marshes, and over granite cliffs. Near the city of Västerås, one can create a complete loop using the lower trails that measures just over 50 km and has only 1 km of repeated trail. The starting and ending point is at the Bruksleden signs at the entrance to the trail by the Erikslund Shopping Center parking lot, where parking is available. There are a few places to get water along the way, including a good spring about 12 km in.
Highlights
- The Bruksleden offers a unique experience with various detours, making it more varied than many other point-to-point trails.
- The trail has only 1 km of repeated path, allowing runners a chance to explore new areas throughout the race.
- There are opportunities to get water along the way, but runners should be prepared to use lakes and streams to fill their bottles.
