At the steelworks Outokumpu in Avesta, the Avesta Backyard Ultra is organized, a race where participants push themselves to run as far – and as slowly – as possible. The rules are simple: it's not the fastest runner who wins, but the one who lasts the longest. The course measures 6.7 kilometers and must be completed every full hour. The competition continues until only one runner remains, and everyone who completes at least one lap receives a final result.

Highlights

  • The course, which is the same length all over the world, measures 6.7 kilometers and is to be completed every full hour.
  • Those who completed the 6.7 km lap within 1 hour will participate in the next lap with a mass start.
  • The competition continues as long as there are participants left!
