Göteborg Marathon

Gothenburg Marathon is a classic race that in 2026 will be held for the 52nd time and offers a marathon and half marathon starting and finishing at the historic Slottsskogsvallen. The course was certified in 2024 and is a flat, straight loop course following the cycle path on the old railway embankment along the coast with a turnaround point at Lilla Amundön. Half marathon runners complete one lap and marathon runners two laps, providing good opportunities for fast times. The event is organized by Solvikingarna with the competition center at the Athletics House.

The competition center is the Athletics House (race bibs and late registration). Start groups: 10:00 AM Marathon; 10:30 AM Half marathon (estimated time under 1:45); 10:45 AM Half marathon (estimated time over 1:45). Water stations are located at approximately 4.2 km, 8.4 km, 12.6 km, and 16.8 km and offer water, sports drinks, Coca-Cola, bananas, and raisins. After finishing, all participants receive drinks, a banana, coffee/tea, and a sandwich. There is an option to have personal fluids/energy transported to the water stations. The last registration day is race day, October 10, 2026, at 09:00 unless the race is full; entries can be transferred or sold via MittLopp until October 7, 2026, for a fee of 100 SEK. Distance changes can be made until October 7, 2026, or on race day up to one hour before start (additional fee may apply). The minimum age for participation is 17 years during the year. Distances: marathon and half marathon. In 2025, over 500 starters (514 participants, 354 finishers) according to the results page. The race is held in October.
